In the previous video, I explained how I painted a hedgehog from a photo. In this video, I’m gonna explain how I painted anime background from photo and how I added the hedgehog to it. At first, I erased the person, because I did not need to draw a background. (I will use the person later.) Using a mask, I created a road layer. I painted similar or the same color on the picture. I felt that the color is too simple, I added other colors on it with lower opacity. At this time, I created a layer that does not have the road. I started to paint the ground. Usually, I just paint on it when I paint artificial objects. But I do not really care about the photo when I am painting natural things. Then I started to paint on the trees. I started with making the silhouette then added some textures. It is too hard to draw all of the trees so I just duplicated what I painted first. Because the duplicated layer is under the original tree layer, the original tres looks closer to us. I changed “Hue Saturation” to change the trees’ color. When the distance from the viewer is different the color changes. (Usually, the original color gets more air color such as white.) I flipped the trees horizontally and added to the other side. By painting trees, I adjusted it. Now I painted the background to white. Then I added thin trees. To express the air I added a gradient. I started to add fallen leaves. Usually, the highest leaves get lots of lights, so I added the lightest leaves at last. (So usually I start from the darkest color) I added the fog using a soft brush with low opacity. To show that the hedgehog is big, I narrowed the illustration. I also used the soft brush to add the shadow. In reality, maybe you do not see a shadow in this situation, but it makes it clear that the hedgehog is standing, so I added. I started to add brunches using the same color of each tree. On top of the layers, I added the original picture as an “overlay”. Then I started to get the person from the original photo. From the photo, I drew the rough first. I thought the body was too wide, so I made it thin. I painted the colors using a simple anime painting method. I explained how to paint anime style clothes before. If you’re interested in it, please check it out. I added lights, but it may be different from the real lights. I added these to express the figure. For the same reason, I added the shades. That’s it!
