How to Swap a Photo Background

August 15, 2019

hey guys today I’m going to show you how to replace a background image and PicMonkey with a little help from my sleepy pal Dave by the end of this tutorial you’ll be able to take anyone from here to here or here to get started let’s free Dave from his current background from the PicMonkey homepage hover over design and choose a blank canvas it doesn’t matter which one next click the overlays tab and select your own find your picture and then open it after it’s open select the eraser top from the overlay palette turn your eraser size all the way up and start erasing the background in broad strokes to erase and finer detail zoom in and adjust your eraser size click the highlighted box in the view controller to pan around your image while you’re zoomed in this is going to take a while so I’ll just skip around a little bit I accidentally took up too much of his hair so I’m going to click undo in the bottom toolbar to fix it I also just erased too much of a sweatshirt one fix is to click the paintbrush icon in the overlay palette and paint the original back on once I’m done erasing I’m going to go into canvas color and check the box next to transparent background now I’m going to crop in pretty close to Dave so that he’s easier to control when I use him as an overlay I’m going to add Dave de HUD so that I can easily add him to any background that I’m working on in PicMonkey I can also save them to my computer I just need to be sure to save him as a dot PNG file now let’s look at how to add Dave to another picture from the PicMonkey homepage hover over edit and select the storage icon where your photo lives once you’re in the editor go into the overlays tab and click add your own in this example we’re going to open Dave from hub rotate and change Dave size by moving the corner handles until he looks how you want him to against the background perfect now that we know how to add Dave to a picture let’s learn how to create our own background I know I want Dave to be in an underwater scene so I’m going to change the background color to a dark blue however if you’re starting with one of our textures you can stick to a white canvas color if you want I’m going to play with the blend modes until I find one that fits my look I like this one and again I’m just going to go into the overlays tab and add Dave and I’m going to adjust and resize him until he’s in a good spot now because I want to draw on top of this overlay I’m going to flatten him into the background by clicking the layers palette in the bottom toolbar and clicking flatten in the bottom left corner I’m going to scroll almost all the way down to the bottom of the effects tab and find draw now I’m just going to speed through my masterpiece here’s a look at the final product to finish it off I just added a couple overlays here’s a quick look at some more of day’s adventures thanks for watching feeling inspired show us what you can do with a hashtag PicMonkey

I want to try your Trail BUT where the mistake is you demand people hand over their CC details! NOT A CHANCE! PM needs to change that and freely allow people to the trail WITHOUT the need to hand over card details…TuT Tut. Great video btw
