How to start scanning photo negatives with the app “Photo Negative Scanner”

August 19, 2019

Hi, in this video I am going to show you how
to make this simple rig for digitizing old photo negatives using household items and
our newest app for Android I start out by getting the tools and supplies
for the build, you will need: Three clothespins
A box cutter A thin piece of white plastic
And a hot glue gun The white piece of plastic is just a scrap
piece from some old packaging, but if you don’t have any laying around, you can buy
a thin sheet of white acrylic and use that instead The rig is composed of three pins being glued
together as shown. The two pins pointing upwards are slight offset
from each other. This is done to prevent artifacts from the
rig showing up when you are scanning your negatives. After glueing the three pins together the
rig is ready for use, simply clamp the white piece of plastic in the lower clamp and attach
the rig to something sturdy such as a coffee mug or bottle. Before using the rig, download Photo Negative
Scanner from Google play. I put a link down in the description Now simple orient the piece of plastic towards
a light source such as a flashlight, clamp the negative in place and you are ready to
scan. For an intro on how to use Photo Negative
Scanner, check out this video we made which
covers all the basics. I’m using Photo Negative Scanner to look
at some old 35mm color negatives from my childhood Although it’s quite convenient to use an
old flashlight we found that using natural light produces even better results. That’s all for now. If you have any questions post them in the
comment section below and I will do my best to answer them all.
