hello and welcome to an introduction to what’s new in Adobe SpeedGrade we’ve got some exciting updates to the user interface which now will look much more familiar to Premiere Pro users that includes an all new media browser and the new look manager as well as a lot of details we also have great new features such as a continuity checker and a new snapshot browser finally we also have new control surface support for the tangent element series so let’s have a look the first thing you’ll notice once you launch the new speaker is that we’ve added top-level navigation so you’ve gotten all the work areas Media color render and result for very convenient access to the most important areas of SpeedGrade in media and color we have a lot of refinements and new tools so let’s have a look in the Media Browser I have now a mini playhead and the scrub are very similar to what you’re familiar with from Premiere Pro and the same goes for the buttons and the functionality down here to go to list view back to thumbnails we’re changing the size of the thumbnails so once you’ve loaded or conformed the project you can easily switch to color and you’ll notice that we’ve made a lot of changes here as well for one thing we have now a dedicated monitor and the great advantage is that very similar to Premiere Pro it will actually scale with any kind of change you make to the user interface and talking about changing the size of it we also acknowledge that a lot of users are now on portable devices running speed grade so we’re trying to give options to take best advantage of just a single screen layout for example I can now fold down blue loop browser whenever I don’t need it and watch what’s happening with the footage up there so you get a lot more real estate just for the footage and you can refocus on what’s most important to you which is the image itself that is also true for the analysis tools you can easily just bring them out or back in again and obviously just rearrange according to aspect ratio and the size of your screen you can also very easily now go into cinema mode and most importantly for the scopes on a smaller screen if you don’t have reasonable amount of space there to display all for just switch to a one scope or a two scope layout and you can very conveniently access the various scopes we’ve got including the new waveform which can also switch to luma so you’ve got RGB overlay or just a pure luma waveform and you can also just go for a histogram or the classic RGB parade whatever is your preference and if you go back to one of the other layouts they will stay the same you can conveniently rearrange them as well so let’s have a look at some of the other new features we’ve got great feedback for the layer stack and we know you love it but there are some things that could be done better and we’ve added functionality let me show this to you so I’ll bring up the look browser I’ll choose one of the looks I have for this particular scene and you’ll notice it’s not really a complex look it’s got three layers but already I’ve got two primaries here and once you build up more layers that obviously can become very confusing and inconvenient over time so we’ve added a functionality to just rename so for example I can call this one my base layer which is really the underlying great the second one well does what it says it’s a bleach bypass but you’ll notice it’s at 50% opacity so if I want to keep track of that just in its name or just to 0.5 here and done with it the one up top is actually if you take a close look already a combination with a mask so I will call this one the vignette so it’s much easier to keep track of what you put into complex look setups and then if you recall them you will easily know what to touch if you want to turn on and off specific layers also while we’re talking about masks you’ll notice that the mask is now right in parallel to the grading so I can very interactively work with the masks come back to the grading then make changes as need be and in refining the looks we’ve got another fantastic new feature which is the snapshot browser so let me open the snapshot repository which can be anywhere on disk where you choose it to be and then create a first snapshot just by clicking on the camera icon up here you will now notice why it’s so convenient to easily push out the scopes I get a much better idea of what these two look like once I get into a refinement stage of it so to the right I’ve got my still which is saved in the snapshot browser I can now create a different version and for example change the temperature of it just a little warmth and I can at all times now compare it against the original income material just by hitting 0 so as you go and as you refine you can save multiple of these and what’s fantastic about the way it’s saved here you can obviously give it a name but also you can actually then as it’s saved as TGA is just in a folder easily send this off to a client or your partner in crime and they can have a look at what’s work in progress without taking a look at a full-on render project additionally to make shot matching a lot easier we have a new feature called continuity checker which is taking advantage of the multiple play heads in speak aid and brings that right up front in the monitor so you can very conveniently use the two up and the three up feature to look at continuity between shots so I’ve just gone to the Sharpe before and will now push the two up this actually creates a second play head and I can still move both of them so let me quickly illustrate so here’s my second play head on the shot before on the next one I can easily just move this to a frame that’s more suitable for me or if I want to see if there is anything changing throughout the shot obviously that’s very convenient the cool thing is to get rid of it again I just click on to up again and three up allows me to look at in the center the very shot I’m working with so let me quickly illustrate that just by slightly changing the gamma and in comparison I have the shot before and the shot that’s coming up next so it makes sharp matching a lot easier and going through a project looking at your scenes and checking continuity this is a fantastic addition to speak great I hope you’ve enjoyed this quick tour – what’s new in Adobe SpeedGrade
